Mmmm... Food...

You'll find recipes here that are anything from family hand-me-downs, to miscellaneous things I've found on the internet, to stuff friends have been nice enough to share. I try to give credit where credit is due, but if I didn't get your name right, I'll apologize here and now.

I'll also be the first to say I'm not responsible for most of what you find here. I've done the gathering and tried most of the recipes, but other fine cooks have come up with the vast majority of what you find here.

My favorite Apple Pie - started with my Mom's pie recipe and added a topping I found on the net.
Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce - combined from several recipes I found on the net.

Sundrop Pound Cake - found this on the net. Tastey pound cake made with a local Carolina soft drink.
Chocolate Ice Cream - I don't remember where I got this one.

Charleston Style Bloody Mary Recipe - from a friend at work.

Awesome Dessert Style Pina Coladas - from a friend in the military.

Apple Pie - I originally heard about this one on the Dave Moody show on the Sirius NASCAR Channel. There are lots of variations out there, but I like this one best, so far.

Fried Green Tomatoes - old family recipe.

German-ish:

 

Sauerbraten - Family recipe.

Sweet Sauerbraten - From my Uncle.

Spaetzles - Family recipe.

Uncle Russ's Pork Pot - meal my Uncle made for us.

Dressed up kraut and kielbasa - different twist on Uncle Russ's pork pot.

Mom's Spaghetti Sauce - the sauce I grew up with.

Kimchi - Spicy pickled cabbage, from a friend's wife.

Mandu - Dumplings, best fried, also good steamed.

Bulgogi - Marinated beef.

Chop Chae - Rice noodles and stuff.

Dipping Sauce (Soy) - Sauce for dipping your Mandu or Kimshe pancakes.

Dipping Sauce (Kochu) - My favorite sauce for Yaki.

Spicy Fried Pork - As the name implies, spicy fried pork, mmmm, good!

Kim Bop Rice - Use this rice to make Kim Bop, what most Americans know as a California roll.

Spicy Chicken Bulgogi - Spicy marinated chicken.

Kimchi Pancakes - Classic Korean street snack.

Picnics 'n BBQ:

 

My Pig Sauce - Nothing fancy, but what I think is a good Eastern Carolina style Pig Sauce.

Laurie's Settler's Beans - It appears this recipe is far more famous in North Carolina that is was in Nebraska, where it came from. It's good stuff either way.

Kathy's Vidalia Onion Pie - Kathy will say this is Grandma's Onion pie, but I feel like Grandma passed this on to her for a reason.

My Favorite Potato Salad - From a nice old German lady at a church pot luck.

David's Cornbread Salad - From my brother.

Cheatin' Ribs - Based on an Alton Brown recipe. If you've got some baby back ribs and a few hours, these are worth a try.

Salads:

 

Spinach Salad with Fried Tortellini and Prosciutto - I saw this on an Emeril Lagasse show a while back. It reminded me of a salad I had in Memphis once.

Edda's Corn and Bean Salad - Tasty salad from a lady at Mom's church.

My Favorite Potato Salad - So good I put it on two pages.

Mock Asian Slaw - Quick and tasty salad from a cook book my Mom gave me.

Sauces, Marinades, 'n Seasonings:

 

Randy's Sauce - Randy is a friend of mine who loves hot stuff. He challenged me to come up with some wing sauce that he thought was hot.

My Jerky Recipe - Put together from some recipes I found online.

Emeril's Essence - Emeril Lagasse's famous seasoning mix.

Mike Brown's BBQ sauce - Got this from a friend I worked with.

Joe Turick's BBQ sauce - From another friend I worked with.

Wings Sauce - Good basic hot wing sauce.

Chicken BBQ Sauce - I made this up, it came out pretty good, I think.

Cornell Chicken Marinade - I remember my Dad and my Grandpa using this sauce to marinade and baste chicken on the grill.

Brine - Found this on the internet.

Seafood:

 

Crab Dip - I put this together based on some recipes I found online.

Shrimp and Grits - I put this together based on a couple of recipes, after we had this at a restaurant at the beach.

BBQ Shrimp - A friend of mine brought this to a food party.

Seafood Lasagna - I found this online, been making it ever since.

Bang Bang Shrimp - Recipe from the net. I had this at a Chinese restaurant and wanted to try it at home.
